横須賀中央に用事があり、よく通りかかる小川町の教会に案内板があることに気づきました。

　　小川町の鐘（横須賀市小川町7番地）

　この十字架に吊るされている鐘は、1932年に米国メリーランド州ボルチモア市のマックシャン鐘鋳造会社で造られ、1950年の秋に旧会堂の完成にともない、当時の基地司令官W.デッカー氏の寄贈によって設置されたものです。重さ約300kg、直径80cm。毎週日曜日、礼拝開始を告げるために鳴らされます。
The bell hanging in the cros tower was donated by Commander Benton W. Decker upon completion of the original Ogawa-cho Church structure in Fall 1950. It was cast by the McShane Bell Foundry in Baltimore, Maryland (USA), in 1932, and weighs 300 kilograms and is 80 centimeters in diameter. The bell tolls every Sunday morming to announce the commencement of worship services.
