カツラ科(Cercidiphyllaceae)は、カツラ(Cercidiphyllum japonicum)、ヒロハカツラ(Cercidiphyllum magnificum)の2種のみから構成され、東アジアに分布します。Qi et al.(2012)によれば、新第三紀中新世後期に他のユキノシタ科から分岐したと推定され、第三紀の遺存種(relict)と考えられています。
