マンサク科(Haloragaceae)は、フウ科(Altingiaceae)の姉妹群と考えられている100種ほどからなるグループです。なかでもマンサク属(Hamamelis)は、アジアと北アメリカに隔離分布していることが知られており(Li Mi.,2000)、ローラシア大陸がユーラシア大陸と北アメリカ大陸に分離完了した古第三紀漸新世以前(Kleinspehn and Teyssier,2016))に分岐成立したと推測されます。
