エゴノキ科(Styracaceae)は、12属約160種の木本により構成される小さな科で東アジアを中心に分布します(Yan et al.,2018)。最大の属は約130種からなるエゴノキ属(Styrax)で、庭園木として多くの品種が作出されています(Lobdell,2013)。
