ショウブ科(Acoraceae)は、かつてサトイモ科に(Araceae)に含まれていましたが、遺伝子解析の結果、ショウブ属は他の単子葉植物の姉妹群であることが明らかとなり、ショウブ目(Acorales)として独立しています(Petersen et al.,2015)。従って、サトイモ(サトイモ科)は勿論、しばしば混同されるハナショウブ(アヤメ科)とも、目レベルで別系統ということになります。
