ユキノシタ科(Saxifragaceae)は、遺伝子解析の結果、多系であることが明らかとなったため、分類が大きく変更された科です。分子生物手法が導入される前から分類変更の検討が行われていた科(Soltis et al.,1990)で、AGP体系ではアジサイ科(Hydrangeaceae)、スグリ科(Grossulariaceae)などを分離(AGP-III,2009)、アジサイ科はミズキ目(Cornales)に移され、ユキノシタ科とスグリ科はユキノシタ目(Saxifragales)内の姉妹群として位置づけられています(Dong et al,2013)。ユキノシタ科に残されたのは640種ほどになり、ユキノシタ(Saxifragoids)とツボサンゴ(Heucheroids)の二つのクレードが認められているようですが、科以下の整理は今後進められるものと思われます。
