イチイ科(Taxaceae)は、イチイ材の工芸品、カヤ材の碁盤、イヌガヤ材の家具のように高級材、有用材として利用される種が含まれていますし、イチイ(Taxus cuspidata)を生垣に利用しているのはよくみかけます。イチイ科は、旧イヌガヤ科と遺伝的に区別できないことが示されており(Majeed et al., 2019)ひとつの科に統合された結果、6属約27種になっています(Christenhusz and Byng,2016)。Ghimire and Heo(2014)によれば、科内の系統関係は下記のように推定されています。
