ワサビノキ科(Moringaceae)は、1属13科で構成されるコンパクトな科でパパイア科(Caricaceae)の姉妹群と考えられています(Olson,2002)。ワサビノキ(Moringa oleifera)は、南インドではごく普通な野菜として利用されていて、一見して立派なインゲンマメの様な実をカレーの具材にしているのを食したことがあります。
