オオバコ科(Plantaginaceae)は、分子生物学的手法による解析により、旧オオバコ科に旧ゴマノハグサ科(Scrophulariaceae)の種を加えられて、大きく構成が変更された科です。再編成により、92属約2000種になっていて、キンギョソウ属(Antirrhinum)、ウンラン属(Linaria)、クワガタソウ属(Veronica)などもこの科の所属になっています(Albach et al.,2016)。
